Notice how the farmer looks on in disbelief as if he doesn't have a clue. And look at the build on him. No wonder the cows are feeling guilty. :)

The cows say, "We think it would be best if we went our separate ways", as if the farmer would just let them go free. What they don't realize is: Going their separate ways means they're off to the slaughter house....hamburger heaven.
