Reuters reported a few days ago that the President has empowered a secret plan to assist the rebels in Syria.

I have very mixed feelings about this. First, I am glad that finally someone is doing something to try and prevent any more of the ongoing slaughter in that country, Ignoring what was happening was not working.

However, I have concerns in the reports that have so many Al Qaeda Jihadists involved with the rebels and having even a lot of leadership, and also concerned as to an incident that may bring more tension than we already have with Russia.

Libya is still strapped with the influence of Al Qaeda !

Looking for some comments on what is such an international disaster and has had horrors beyond comprehension.

We will have to let the CIA sort them out, and let them be eliminated.

It sounds like it is mostly just intelligence and organization support being supplied by the US to Syrian rebels. I too worry about weapons supplied to freedom fighters being later used against the US as happened with Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Hoping you will say more on this. I was not aware that the CIA was still in Libya and not sure how you sort out the leaders of a group you are supporting without warfare.

This is not criticizing what the President is doing at all....only that it is VERY late in coming....just raising a concern that is not being discussed by anyone. We are more interested in Romney's taxes, etc that this stuff.

Russia is and has been supporting the regime, not just verbally. Not sure how you sort out the bad guys as you suggest in this climate.

LIntelligence is the only way. Cut out the extremists by drone. The Russians will squawk but they have a Naval Base to lose if the Muslim extremists take over. They won't interfere with our "sorting".

AHH yes, the drones ! Developed by the CIA for Bush to take pictues and then armed to kill.

Shudder to think when this technology falls into the hands of the "bad guys"
