What tools to bring ?

Hi Everyone - My husband has asked me to ask "What tools should he bring with him to TV" ? He is trying to figure out what he will need, because I have refused to let him bring the entire contents of our garage here in CT !! He likes to do many of the home repairs himself, but I don't think he needs to bring every tool ever manufactured. Please help....

Anne

Bring everything, if he likes to DIY he'll need it.

I would say to bring hand tools only. It killed me but I had to leave my table saw, miter saw and radial arm saw. No real use for them here and garage space is at a premium here. Or course the most important tools I brought are the ones I use to dig holes in the golf course with!

Bring minimum tools as the garage space is at a premium. Myself, hammer, set of screwdrivers and pliers. When I retired, I turned my tools over to my son and now use my checkbook! I save most of my energy for other activities (golf at the top of the list) and there are a lot of them if you want to participate in TV.

Oh I thought the title of the thread was "What tools do you bring meaning a philosophical discussion about what we as individuals contribute to The Villages society. Duh!

:agree: Bring them all. Leave the furniture behind! Anybody talented with tools can't have too many.

Besides the tools, bring the collection of parts you've accumulated over the years. I foolishly gave my collection of nuts, bolts, washers, etc. to my neighbor when I moved. After all, I was moving into a brand new house! I won't need them. Right? Wrong.

Bring the power sprayer - for driveway and siding/stucco cleaning.

Bring the battery charger and tire inflater.

Bring the pipe wrench, ratchet set, hand saw, hack saw, level, tape, hammer, small sledge hammer, small power jig saw, screw gun, pliers, etc.

Bring the leaf blower.

(you can store this stuff in the kitchen cabinets you don't use because you eat out all the time)

.

Vise grips and duct tape!! If you can't fix it with either of those items, it is broke and you have to throw it away :)

Just kidding !!

I would say bring whatever you want/can!

Moved from LI to So. Fl. 7 years ago. Left most everything in NY - mostly due to space. Now have gone out and bought some and wish I had the rest.

BRING IT ON !!!!

I agree with that. You don't want to run to the hardware store every time you need a screw or nut.
I also agree with George- my father was a master at fixing everything with duct tape & vise grips!
For myself, I can't bear the thought of leaving any tools behind- the ones you leave are always going to be the ones you need! So for me I'm bringing as much as I can except something like a table saw which eats up a lot of space.
