Question about Wall Televisions

We are moving to TV soon, and hubby is wondering if there is a reason more people do not have wall bracket televisions? Thanks for any input! Debi (and Steve).

We have 2 wall mounted televisions....I assume it is a matter of personal choice.

Are you meaning flat screens on the wall? We had our house wired after purchase for flat screens on the wall in every room. The Villages does not do that but we had an electrician do it

I think that a lot of people do have wall mounts. It's easy to do, looks great and takes up less space. We have a 58 inch and a 32 inch that I hung myself. I was going to run the cable myself too but Comcast only wanted $30 to do each set. What I mean is that I wanted the cable connection to be high on the wall behind the screen. I ran AC up through the wall and installed an outlet so all of the wires are hidden. You can also run the wires up the wall on the outside and get a cover that hides them.

We did this in our home up north here, ourselves. Steve was not sure if the homes there might have different wall structure, that might make it difficult. I see now that will not be a problem at all! :O) Thanks, all! :O)

We just want the screen at eye level when we are sitting on the couch. So we put the stand on a credenza.

I thought TV would put an electical box any where you wanted! (for a fee)
I was going to have them put the cable/sat wire next to it. Bummer.

Where do you hide your boxes? See my thread about Directv users...

We had the option to put the electrical box anywhere we wanted. She even asked us if we were planning to have it on the wall. This was in June.

If you are building, they will put the tv & el outlet wherever you like. Just tell them to the inch where you want it. I also had a lan cable run from where my computor will be to the back of the tv for Netflix. They will also put wood studs where tv will be mounted for easy mounting.

Wood studds. that's perfect! My new plasma will have wireless but good idea to run the ethernet cable.

I would think that if you are there while building you can string a few cables yourself.
