Augusta National Admits 2 women

Condoleezza Rice and Darla Moore make history.

Good news. Thanks for posting, P! Augusta National admits two women, including Condoleezza Rice

Congratulations to these deserving ladies. I wonder if they actually applied for membership or if the pressure on Augusta has finally grown so strong that they were forced to go out and grab some token women to add to their membership. I don't think any credit or praise should be going to Augusta for this concession. It's something they should have done from the beginning.

News so far just indicate that they were candidates for membership. Don't know if that means a member nominated them, or they applied.

Absolutely wrong!
A private men's club is just that. It is legal. It is not discrimination. Women can have their own private clubs.

Wonder if they have someone there checking to see if the straps on their shoulders are 2 inch wide.

When you invite the last four CEO's of one of your largest corporate sponsors to be club members and then when the newest CEO is a woman and does not get an invite that looks and smells like discrimination to me.

For my money this is long overdue and I really hope that Nancy Lopez will not be far behind this two ladies.

It is (was) a man's club. Shame on them for knuckling under the pressure of the day and compromising the original intents for the sake of who knows what??!!??

My 2 cents.

Pretty tough to be a "private" club yet host one of the most public spectacles on the sports calendar. They finally became color-blind in 1990. Its been long overdue for them to allow women members. The two high profile women that were admitted will certainly add luster to their membership roster. Sounds like this is all the result of their new Board chairman. Hootie, imho, belonged in the stone ages.

Congrats to these women.

Augusta caved. It seems men are never allowed to have their own clubs. Try inviltrating a women's club and listen to the howling.
