computer SCAMS

Last night and today received phone calls from Micro Tech Support who claimed to be windows main server and trouble shooter. Wanted me to go to the computer, give them my password and they wanted to check out all my files and said I had problems with windows and my computer would crash very shortly. Man who called was Travis Pedro. I said I would call him back and
asked for a phone and after much hesitation got this No. 1-800-231-8572
Orig. phone was shown as not identified. Figured this was a scam. Just a
warning - be on the lookout for these guys. When my husband said we were contaacting Better Business B. they hung up. J.

The real MicroSoft does not call you for any reason.

Glad that you were alert to this scam.

THEY ARE BACK!

I had a number of phone calls from the above. When I told them I wanted the name and number of the guy at Microsoft that hired them the guy told me to@#$%^&*()(.

It is now 6:20 PM and they are still calling. I won't answer. The numbers they used were (212) 777-3457 and (800) 822 9239. They went from we were told by Microsoft that you are getting errors to someone is trying to hack your computer.

Don't waste your time arguing with these guys it only encourages them more . Tell them to drop dead and hang up

Boy Howdy. They don't know who they are dealing with.

Do they think us seniors are a bunch of dummies???

Good for you Rubicon!

Got one of those calls too

I got a call like that too.

A woman saying she was from "Windows Security" and that I had a problem with my computer. I knew immediately, it was a scam - why? I'm an Apple person and have not used Windows for years, but I would like to think that I would have known it was a scam anyway.

Indeed - we seniors are really pretty smart and they are pretty dumb to think that we are not.

I got at call yesterday (labor day) from a computer tech with a thick accent telling me that my windows on my computer was not working correctly. That's as far as he got before i told him that it was not a problem for me & i hung up. be aware they are back & working our area. His number was not listed-unknown caller.

They waste my time - I retaliate and waste theirs. I let them "talk me into" allowing them access to my computer to "fix" it but tell them "Hold on, I have to boot it up first." Then I put the phone on Speaker and just go back to whatever I was doing when they interrupted me to see how long they will hold on while I "boot" up. The record (so far) is about none minutes. All I have to do is be quiet while the phone is on "Speaker" and enjoy their discomfort. Of course they are all paid on commission, so wasting their time costs them money. And it's fun!!

I got the same call Saturday - bye, bye!!
