EZ-Go Exceed Golf Cart (Both Gas and Elec)

I am doing my research on the purchase of a golf cart for TV. Has anyone purchased an EZ-Go Exceed that runs both on electric and gas when needed?

If so.... I would value your thoughts about it.

Thanks,

About how much $$ is that model, you lose all the space in back and carry a lot of extra weight.

Check how much the cart weights, the heavier it is the more power it requires.

A new elec will go 50 miles, a lot more with solar.

EZGO hybrid

I looked on line awhile ago and was wondering where the golf clubs would go. They would be sitting pretty high up. I guess if your tall you can get them out of the bag! Jimbo2012 makes good point, lots of extra weight....

I agree with the above posters regarding loss of space for carring golf clubs, grocery bags, etc. The added weight reducing range.

My concern is the gas generator. Honda generators are very quiet. Some of the other generators are loud as H*LL. I have a small Colman 1850 watt generator and it is very loud. I use it for other reasons and not on my golf cart.

I would recommend if you are considering an EZGO, then opt for getting it with the most batteries. 4/12 volt will get you far, 6/8 volt get you farther, and 8/6 volt will give you the greatest range.

Also consider purchasing a Battery Minder/Battery Tender to keep your batteries in top shape and reduce the amount of sulfer accumulation as the batteries age.

Also the Club car brand is 100lbs lighter than e zgo, alum frame!

No rust, easier rebuild years from now makes them in higher demand when older.

Hybrid issues

The problem with hybrid vehicles is that you end with with the drawbacks of both technologies. You get the added weight of batteries and the smell and noise of gas. Personally I would pick one and go with it.

No, I don't believe so, it is a custom install, one person did here and got upto 62 miles if I recall, you can add solar for less $$ and go further.

Add solar for LESS, OK how much?

We will be developing the net costs very soon, you will be surprised.

question does anyone offer solar now? if so what is the cost and claims.

I'm going there in about 10 days to gauge the market.

As far as solar for a golf cart I have looked at this - PowerFilm Solar Technology

That is flex panel it has low wattage output, it can keep the batteries topped up but not really add range which is of concern here.

We use a solid panel (about 5X the output of the flex) it has enough power to add many miles at less in cost than that one.

Look at the video and you will see where the clubs go . . . same height as all other carts as the engine is covered by a rear facing seat and the clubs go on the extended tray that is the foot rest if there were passengers in the back.

How much further than 50 miles do you need for the villages lifestyle?

I have 8, six volt batteries, traveled 44 miles one day just to see how far my range was. Still had three bars on the coulomb meter. Spent all day doing it, never would need even 3/4 of that for my normal routine.

cost, 9 kWh or $1.00 to recharge. At $3.80 a gallon, that's 160 mpg.

Can't see where the solar would be cost effective.
