Nonresident posters

I am amazed the number of people that post on here that are not residents but appear the be very authoritative about The Villages.

I think many plan to move to TV at some point and have learned quite a lot from all the threads and numerous visits! I started posting before I purchased just so I could learn some of the ins and outs and how things work, etc... Am just beginning my build this next week and have found the forum to be very informative. Now I can help with some of the posts regarding design team, types of properties, etc. I think many have visited a lot over periods of time or have put down deposits or have learned by others answering their questions!

This forum was wonderful for me when I was in the building stage. And has offered valuable information for getting adjusted. I completely understand why it is so successful and hope I can offer valuable insights when need be. I assumed everyone on here was either living here or hoping to move here or trying to figure out if they wanted to live here.

:agree:

I've been a member for 2 1/2 years and read/learned about everything I need to know about moving to TV. I don't comment on anything that I don't have personal knowledge of such as contractor services, restaurants that I haven't been to, etc. I leave that for resident experts.

I try to be helpful to newer members and have learned a lot from the smart resident members. We all learn from reading many posts and gleaning the wonderful information that is here for all to enjoy. Implying that you have to be a resident to know something authortatively is not an entirely true statement.

Many of us joined TOTV well before we moved here. I would have been lost without the advice of longtime members when we decided to pull the trigger and buy here. There are also members who live in the vicinity of TV who are a wealth of information both about TV and the area around TV. They are valuable members and are welcome here.

Personally, I've learned so much from TOTV. I had many questions and concerns answered on this forum. There have been many people that have PM'd me with terrific advice.

In short, thanks for letting me post on TOTV, thanks for the friendships that have already taken place and thanks for the positive outlooks that have been given to me concerning the sale of my home!!!!!!

Many folks are not residents and they are either thinking about being a resident or have already decided and are impatiently waiting for circumstances to allow them to be here.

I suspect there are a few unhappy souls who don't live here and have their own agenda....but very few.

If someone posts something that's incorrect, it usually gets straightened out by others.

:agree: Ditto for me. And having authoritative knowledge and having an opinion are two entirely different things. The OP used the word authoritative.

I can certainly understand your point of view.
I have been posting/reading these posts since July 22 of this year.
Very interested in coming to see TV.
Speaking for myself ONLY, there is no way I could or would post or comment on something going on in TV. However, posting on other topics ie. tipping, pets, golfing, etc. is commonplace no matter where you live.
I have asked questions and received many very useful answers regarding TV. For that I thank all the participants.
I will continue to read this forum, but only comment on something I know about.
Which to most people that know me - ISN'T MUCH !!!!

read this site after second visit, didn't start posting until we bought our first house.
