Opening of Brownwood

:crap2::crap2::crap2::crap2:Brownwood looks so realistic and massive. Wouldn't it be wonderful if those in charge of publicity were able to get those Old Time western actors, i.e, Clint Walker(Cheyenne) James Drury(The Virginian) etc to attend the opening or bring them in sometime in the future? I know these folks do attend these things if invited-but who does one speak to about getting them here? It would be so neat!!

Grand opening of Brownwood I have a vision of everybody dressed up like cowboys/cowgirls! How about the Morris family all dressed up in cowboy/cowgirls outfits. Wouldn't you like to meet Gary Morris and other family members?
We did get the opportunity to meet Harold Schwartz. What a pleasant and nice personality he had as he greeted potential buyers---- often in the lobby of the sales office. Not a man you would soon forget.

I think the apple (Gary Morse) fell from that tree in the middle of a hurricane and fell miles away. ;);)

I've always heard that Schwartz was a great guy. But it was Gary's vision that became The Villages, Mr. Schwartz just had a trailer park in mind at first.

There are plenty of real "Crackers" living nearby. I would rather see them since they are descendants of Florida cowboys. That's the theme of Brownwood.

I'm sill curious to know what will be IN Brownwood, besides a movie complex, City Fire and a Farmers Market. Did I miss something in the Daily Sun?

We spoke to a vendor who normally sells at the Wildwood Farmer's Market on Saturday and he told us he would be at Brownwood in October, around the 21st. So it looks like we're getting close.

My in-laws were some of the original Villagers back in the early 80-'s when manufactured homes were the only choice. Their friends and neighbors were GM executives, doctors, dentists, a vet, retired city workers, etc. People from all walks of life who were delighted to have a retirement that their budgets would allow. We will proudly live in that same home in just a few months. BTW, they were personal friends of Harold and yes, he was a wonderful person.

Brownwood, Oh Brownwood Hi diddle dee.
Whatever it is and what it will be.
No one will know and no one will see
Because that is just the Morse way to be.

They figured and planned, and got it all set
And how it will open, none quite know yet.
But it will delight us and make us each glad.
That we shared in the best dream that we ever had.

Can't wait to see what they will do...but I am sure it won't disappoint.

That's where the word "Cracker" came from. The old cowboys "cracked" their whips to round up the cattle.

Well stated, Gracie!!! Leave it to you to come up with the right perspective!:BigApplause: Very clever!

If you google "slang cracker" you will find that it sometimes used in a less than positive nature.
