Is it OK to park a SmartCar in a golf cart space?

Would anyone give you a ticket for doing that?

Never seen a golf cart space....they park in regular car spaces usually two to a space. I have seen smart cars park like golf cars and haven't heard of any problems.

Yes, if the car is an obstruction. I'm surprised that some of the golf carts parked on/near the square do not get tickets for sticking so far out into the street. :(

I always wondered about that (parking two carts to one space). Isn't it easy to get closed in by someone who is staying longer than you are?

I think what was meant was two golf carts parked diagonally in a parallel car parking space.

OK - thanks, JustJim!

Actually, you can get about 4 carts parked perpendicular to the curb in one parallel parking space at the squares, right?

Bill :)

You won't get parked in if you don't pull the cart all the way up. Just keep it to either side of the spot and two carts can easily fit.

Better Check, Parking Tickets can be expensive

You better check with Law Enforcement, I think I heard something about this once. What I remember is because the smart car is an automobile the passenger door has to be parallel to the curb if the parking spot is marked for that type of parking. On a personal note I think it would/could be a problem to park in a golf cart spot because if there is a cart on both sides of you, how are you going to open the doors of the smart car to get out or to be able to get back in to leave??

One of the cars original design intentions was for parking. NY City was considering letting people with Smarts or similar micro cars have advantage parking because they can park two -three in the space of one large vehicle.

A Smart is shorter thant most carts.
