The Hunger games

My wife and I are currently reading "The Hunger Games" series. It is 3 books. I'm starting the 3rd book and my wife is reading the 2nd book of the series.

Last night we watched "The Hunger Games" movie. It was disappointing compared to how great a read the book was. I've heard lackluster reviews of the movie, and I can now understand how difficult the movie would be to understand if one did not read the book.

In short, the book was great, the movie so-so.

I could not see it in Leesburg nor in Ocala so I saw The Hunger Games at the Belleview Twin. That's a $5 per seat quite small theater in Belleview, FL. Since The Hunger Games is a Lionsgate movie, they did not show it in the Villages as the theater and the Lionsgate film distributor have been in a contract dispute of some sort. The movie lost quite a bit being on a much smaller screen than in most movie theaters.

Hope they get the contract dispute settled by the time the Catching Fire movie comes out in November 2013. The third book will be put into two movies coming out in November 2014 and November 2015.

I liked The Hunger Games quite a bit more when I saw it on DVD.

Hunger Games did quite well from the critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and made a huge amount of $ at the US box office.

I do agree that the book was much better than the movie. I am about half way through 3rd book. Enjoyed the 2nd book the most of the series.

Thanks for the info!
My copy of the 3rd book is in a FedEx truck somewhere trying to find my house. Can't wait for it!

Thanks, Frank

I saw the movie first, then read the first book - I'm just a little backward :) I enjoyed both the movie and first book very much. Got through the second book in about 5 weeks. I started the third book a few days ago. I'm looking forward to seeing "Catching Fire" during the holidays next year.

Interesting that I don't believe I have found any cursing/swearing/foul language in any of the books. I believe the original target audience for the trilogy was teenagers...maybe that is why.

I agree.....my wife and I both noticed that. Very refreshing to have such a good read unsullied by foul language, sex, etc......

I read all the books when they came out and saw the first movie (DVD) last night. I thought the movie was good, but would have been difficult to follow if you had not read the book. I bought the DVD so will watch it again in a few weeks.

The books are usually found in the young adult (teen) section at many public libraries.
