Solar shades for lanai

Our lanai is so sunny that we can't sit there without the blinds closed all the way. I'd like to be able to find something that allows us to see outside but that would also reduce the sun's rays, thus keeping it cooler and also avoiding sun damage to the furniture. Does anyone know of a product that will produce the desired effect?

My enclosed lanai faces west....and I love it because of the gorgeous sunsets in TV. However, there are times when the sun can be blinding so I did have solar shades installed through Village Interiors. I am very happy with the shades and Village Interiors did a great job with the installation. I did opt for remote control which I love.......and if you are thinking along those lines, do NOT get battery operated remote control (like I did in Swimdawg North). The batteries are are difficult to replace and even lithium batteries don't last long for some reason). I opted to get electrical-wired remotes in Swimdawg South and I am so much happier.

Village Interiors advertises on this site. Their phone number is 352-330-4000 and they are on CR 106 - next to Bargains and Treasures.

I have plantation shutters throughout my entire house sans the enclosed lanai. I love them....in my house.

I have a beautiful view.......sunset over lake......and I would never want plantation shutters to slightly obstruct the view. With solar shades, they are kept up most of the time....but when that sun is blinding...it's wonderful to have those solar shades for that short "blinding" time. And they are sooooo easy to put up or down.....one click of the remote...and voila! Solar shades are great for the lanai.

Those are indoor shutters, very different from outdoor versions, not as restrictive.

Pictures, please. Does this mean that you have to go outside to close them?

I don't have pictures, I'll build my own as/if needed.

But if you search Google under images they will show a lot of them.

Also search Bahama shutters.

In the standard lanai setups here with screens you would need to go out side to open/close.

But for the most part they open.

Call RK products. They have nice quality sun and privacy shades and do a nice job. 352-430-4430.
