Former NFL player and actor dies.

Former Lions DT and 'Webster' star Alex Karras dies at 77 - NYPOST.com

He starred in "Webster" with his wife, (Susan Clark), and Emmanuel Lewis and played "Mongo" in Blazing Saddles.

A true gentle giant. RIP - Alex

Blazing Saddles is one of my favorite comedies. And, its Director is Mel Brooks, too! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blazing_Saddles

R.I.P. Alex Karras.

Alex was also a Iowa Hawkeye. A member of the '56 Rose Bowl team. In '57 was the Outland Trophy winner and runner up for the Heisman Trophy which is very rare for a lineman.

I'm really surprised that he was 77. For some reason, I always thought he was closer to my age (early 60s). I don't think I've ever seen him and not liked what he was doing -- from football to acting. He was always a pleasure. I'm sorry he is gone.

Forgot about Victor/Victoria which is probably my favorite Julie Andrews' movie.
