Pre Babyboomers

We have Babyboomers. Then there is Generation X. After that there is Generation Y.( I think) The question is. What was the previous generation before the Babyboomers called?

According to Wikipedia, it was the "Silent Generation". See 'List of Generations':

A generation is usually 20 to 22 years, but the labeling of "generations" doesn't always follow that guideline. The generation born between 1925 and 1945 was called The Silent Generation. Then came the Baby Boomers from 1946 to 1963, then Generation X (1964-1979), Then Generation Y (1980-1995). The Silent Generation mostly fought in the Korean War, so they were between The Baby Boomers and those who mostly fought in WWII who have come to be called The Greatest Generation, although obviously there is some overlap.

I thought they were the Beat Generation.

Beat Generation, I like it! My older brother was born in 1944 and he beat me all the time.

Don't know why they called it a "silent generation". I certainly wasn't silent. I played with the Beat Generation. Even went to the other Village in lower Manhattan, watched Swedish films but never was serious. Probably enjoyed Blackboard Jungle and Jimmy Dean's Rebel Without Cause more wearing biker jacket.

According to wikipedia:

Mature/World War II Generation (Workers born before 1946).
