POA Bulletin
 

Why does the POA get to throw their paper on our driveways? I thought that was not allowed in The Villages. They are soliciting for members. But more importantly, if someone is away and that paper lays in the driveway for days at a time, it is advertising no one is home. We can cancel the Daily Sun, but we don't know that the POA is going to throw their paper on the driveway when we are away.

Consider it an unsolicited gift with information of value to most residents and you're free to throw it away. You may also cancel all or some of your future monthly bulletins by emailing the POA. The POA also asks in each bulletin that if you know your neighbor is not present, to please pick it up and toss it. We have a similar problem with phone books.

A "gift with information" is an understatement.
Many of us think the Developer has done an amazing thing building TV with such class and beauty, qualifying him as the most influential decision maker n our lives here. But by their impact and influence, clearly the POA is in second place. The Association has represented residents nobly and objectively. It's work became the framework for Districts 1-4 to take over infrastructure responsibilities smoothly, and through landmark legal action, recover millions of amenity fee dollars diverted inappropriately to the building of newer districts. This action made it possible to repave all of the cart paths north of 466 and put funding into the District 1-4 treasuries for other needed projects. Additionally, the POA has kept us informed about issues of which we otherwise would unaware. I'm not going to list those things here. Just go to the POA website and look at the long list of topics well covered in the archives of monthly newsletters.

The last thing anyone in TV should criticize is receiving a POA newsletter in their driveway.

In our neighborhood, we know which homes are owned by seasonal residents and which residents are out of town for a while. If we see the POA newsletter on the driveway, we either throw it away or hold it for them to return, whichever they wish. It is a sign that no one is home, so we do the same with any flyers, phone books, etc. that are left on the property.

We can all learn a ton about living here through the news provided by the POA!! Give it a chance...read it.

You can contact the POA, and they will make sure you do not get a delivery, if that is your wishes. I myself, if I know my neighbor is away, I pick up the paper, phone book, or notices from clubs etc, just to be neighborly. I know my neighbors would do that for me also. I enjoy reading the POA (very informative)along with The Association newspaper.

I have a snowbird neighbor and the POA does deliver to his driveway now and then. No problem for me to go pick it up and toss it in the trash. That is what Villages neighbors do for each other.

The POA paper is very interesting reading and you get lots of questions answered from Janet Tutt.

Yes, the POA will stop delivery if you request it but it is no bother to toss it out if you pick it up from neighbor's driveway.

I think that the POA provides a beneficial service to Village residents. Please read the newspaper. I think you'll see the organization has some merit.

:bowdown:Another vote for the POA. They look out for the best interest of the homeowners.

thank goodness for the POA it's good to know that there is an organization that watches out for us.....the VHA wont take on any controversial matter against The Villages

I enjoy reading the POA bulletin...tons of good info. The phone books are a different issue...lots of unneeded phone books...the only one I ever use is the Village phone book.
For those pepple that don't want to get all these phone books delivered, please use this link to opt out. You will still get the Villages phone book. Please let your neighbors know about it..especially if they are snowbirds and don't want the phone books anyway.

When you go to the website, it will take a few minutes to create an account. Then it will seem like you are signing up to receive all these phone books, until the end, when there will be an opt out button. This will eliminate about 8 phone books per household. Thanks for saving our trees !

POA Bulletin for November
 

Before people throw it away, check out the letter on page 16 entitled "Saving Water" regarding how long it takes for the hot water to run and what to do about it. Good information for those of us who think like the writer does.

Also, Page 14 has a letter from the woman running Comcast in this area and what to do if you have a problem.

Page 12 has an article "Do you have a Spirited Heart" asking for warm clothing for the Lakota Sioux Native American Indians who are living in poverty and need warm clothing for the winter. If you are like us, you bought too many warm jackets here and now I have somewhere to donate them where they will do some good.

As another poster on thread already said - there is a great deal of good information in this POA Bulletin and before you throw it out, read it please.
