Bad Accident on 466A
When we were coming home around 12:30 this afternoon there was a bad accident on 466A. Looked like an SUV rear ended a truck. Looked like someone was covered with a sheet in the SUV. Front end of SUV as complete totaled and pushed into the passenger part of the SUV.

I was there. That is not what I saw.

We still don't know. Not that we could do anything, but so sad to hear.
What did you see, Lashby? |

Heard the sirens about that time here in sanibel. Lots of stupidity on 466a around the lunch hour. Be careful folks if you're down this way at that time frame.

We were playing pickleball at Colony and saw all the patrol cars and flashing lights but couldn't see what was happening. The traffic is getting very heavy in front of the Rec. center also between 12 & 2.

I was playing Evans Prairie on I think #7 on Osprey. Was at the green when I heard that sound. There was a water truck on 466A with its lights flashing I believe watering stuff in the median. The truck was in the left lane heading towards 301. A small SUV had run into the back end of the water truck. There was a young man in the SUV. He was able to get out of the car and was laying on the ground when emergency personnel arrived. I hope he was ok. He was talking with people at the scene giving his name, etc. That's all I know.

There was a picture in today's paper. The SUV driver was taken to Leesburg with minor injuries, thankfully. The incident was as described by Ashby, he rear ended a water tank truck working/cleaning along 466a.
Perhaps what FIgmo saw was the deployed airbag and not a sheet over a person. Glad the driver will be OK. |
My hubby works for the community watch and was sent to the accident scene, said he could believe the driver did NOT have a drop of blood on him for such a bad accident. Vehicles can be replaced!

Was in Friday's paper. He was taken to hospital but was minor injuries.
