Is anyone using Prism fiberoptic cable TV. Any problems?

We changed from Comcast to Century Link Prism, had it for two months, many problems and just switched back to Comcast. Won't change again. We weren't dissatisfied with Comcast, just wanted to save money. The irony is when we switched back we pay less money than we did the last time we had it, more updated equipment, crisper picture and more options, DVR, and internet.

We did the same thing. Poor TV, slow Internet and poor service. Although I cannot say Comcast is perfect, I will not change again

I'm always surprised when I read that people have had poor reception or slow Internet speed with Centurylink, because my experience with them has been just the opposite. I wonder if the difference is due to the neighborhood and the mode of service in that area. For instance, in Tamarind Grove, we have "fiber to the premises". Other villages that are a few years older than us have "fiber to the curb". And perhaps some of the older villages don't use fiber at all? I don't know. All I can attest to is that my fiber to the premises service with CL has been great. And as far as their customer service goes, I think they are much better than Comcast. I've been able to get through to them on the phone without waiting on hold, and they send a tech out within 24 hours max, usually quicker. I left Comcast because of their poor customer service and long wait times.

The only down side to CL for me is that right now you can only watch or dvr two high def channels at a time and their On Demand selections aren't as good as Comcast.

I changed from DirecTv a few months ago to eliminate the storm outages. Sorry I did. Picture quality is great when working, but experiencing much muting, pixelation, etc. Have service out, and they claimed at the time it was sunspots that would clear up after Oct. 16. No so. Would not go with them again. I'm in St. James and have fiber throughout.

I have not had any of those problems. I am just north of 466A in Hemingway.

With DTV, the temporary fix is to use the menu settings to access the standard definition versions of the HD channels, and watch in SD for the time being. I don't think the whole system crashes in a storm.

I got Prism TV as soon as it was available, and for quite a while I was their biggest cheerleader. Great picture, saved $$$ over Comcast. That said, in July I lost service completely. Between my schedule and theirs, it was over a week before a service tech could come out (required, so they said, because my router was malfunctioning.) Appt was scheduled for a Monday morning. On Sunday, I got home from church and there was a note on the door from Centurylink saying all should be well. And it was. So it obviously wasn't my router...
Now tonight it's the same story. But this time I only have to wait until tomorrow afternoon for a service tech. Have to access the internet with a Verizon air card - not cheap, but I have to have internet access for my business. However, no television...very quiet in my house tonight. As much as I hate Comcast, I think I'm going to switch back.

skip0358 11-14-2012 06:53 AM

switched

Went with CL because Comcast was getting to high. What a mistake. Can't wait to switch back. We don't have fiber to the house. Slow internet, locks up,picture is good most times but when changing channels the picture will change but not the voice. CL came made adjustments etc. Can't wait for April.

I have Prism TV with phone & internet service..have had no problems except where i am located we can't get the HDTV channels, but other than than the service is better than comcast. I like the DVR feature can record up to 2 shows without watching one of them while recording.
