Tile and grout question

To anyone that has recently had their designer appointment ... Are their dark tile and grout options or is it all the beignets? We are thinking a medium gray and dark grout. Thanksk

In my design meeting I saw several choices for darker tile, they were more expensive, and i was told you could not specify the grout color. I ended up with a medium colored tile and the grout color works fine for what they selected to go with that tile. I also asked about the width of the grout, but could not specify that option also, I wanted very narrow grout line but not an option to specify.

There are several venues of tile. Lighter, mid tones and a bit darker. If I recall, I only saw one in the medium grayish tones, but I was not looking for that so there could very well be more. If you are trying to replicate a slate appearance, you may come up a bit short. I tried to get close to travertine and expect I may retile the entry at a later time. Your designer will help you pick a grout color that will go with the tile, and you may ask for a darker one. They will, however, caution you as to what will go best with the tile you choose!

Something to consider:

When I chose my flooring (hardwood, tile & grout, etc.) back in 2004, I quite honestly had no clue as to what I was doing! :-)

Today, some 8 years later, I wish I had known more. My kitchen tile is basically okay, altho' places where I tend to do the most work sometimes show a darkening, I guess due to excessive contact. This is reasonably easy to erase, with an effort that I no longer wish to put out! However, the grout darkens more substantially and is considerably harder to lighten! Even my experienced regular cleaning service is at a loss!

While it may be totally impractical, it may be worthwhile looking into the "real bottom line," with connections to The Villages added to your mix!

I am considering calling one of the many firms which offer tile & grout care.,
when I have the chance!
