You would probably do better by joining the fitness club in Spanish Springs. Exercise ther two hours a day - five days a week and you will definitely loose weight. That is if you don't go eat breakfast at TooJays or lunch at Sonny's BBQ afterwards! I dropped 68 lbs. at a fitness center that way. It works, gimmicks rarely do.:pepper2::pepper2::pepper2:

wow congratulations! How long did it take you? My doctor said i need to look into a protein diet and excersise. I have diabetes and he recommended this program cause his other patients are doing it and doing well. just checking to see if anyone else had tried it.

Nine months. Two hours a day seven days a week because I was in a hurry. Wanted to do that before looking for a new home town. I was pre diabetic, high blood pressure, and cholesterol was high. Now no medication at all. No one will tell you it's easy. It's like quit smoking , you have to want to.

Have you tried Weight Watchers? They have 2 plans to choose from. One plan you count points for your food. The second one you eat lean proteins, friuts and veggies. Exercise and drinking water is encouraged. May be a cheaper, more do-able way to lose weight.

Having a lifestyle change in eating habits where you eat several smaller meals a day and combined with exercise is a better way to go. Diets are doomed to failure as you will always start eating the things you miss.

I am a diabetic and didn't have to take pills because of these changes. You will find that by eating healthier, you lose the craving for processed and or junk foods.

Look at Suzanne Sommers plan - high protein, low carb, but the key is you are never hungry which is the downfall of most diets. This is not a diet, but an eating plan that slowly integrates you back into the real world. The key is to believe in what you are doing and exercise wouldn't hurt. Before everyone gets their knickers in a knot she doesn't disregard carbs, but teaches you the good from the bad and how to combine them with other foods.

Thanks! I will be headed for my evaluation at the office today. Im excited to get started on a plan. Its not knowing what to eat its having the accountability- thanks for all the advice

I'm guessing the plan isn't in-expensive given it's from that clinic. Been there (one week of manipulations) and his costs are pretty high! As for this type of plan...once you go off from you you'll gain the lbs back. Weight Watchers and exercise probably are a better way to do it!!

Are high-protein diets safe for weight loss?
Answer
from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D.

For most healthy people, a high-protein diet generally isn't harmful if followed for a short time, such as six months or less, and may help with weight loss.

However, the risks of using a high-protein diet with carbohydrate restriction for the long term are still being studied. Several health problems may result if a high-protein diet is followed for an extended time:

Some high-protein diets restrict carbohydrate intake so much that they can result in nutritional deficiencies or insufficient fiber, which can cause health problems such as constipation and diverticulitis.

Some high-protein diets promote foods such as red meat and full-fat dairy products, which may increase your risk of heart disease.

A high-protein diet may worsen kidney function in people with kidney disease because your body may have trouble eliminating all the waste products of protein metabolism.

If you want to follow a high-protein diet, do so only as a short-term weight-loss aid. Also, choose your protein wisely. Good choices include fish, skinless chicken, lean beef, pork and low-fat dairy products. Choose carbs that are high in fiber, such as whole grains and nutrient-dense vegetables and fruit.

It's always a good idea to talk with your doctor before starting a weight-loss diet. And that's especially important in this case if you have kidney disease, diabetes or other chronic health condition.

Finally, keep in mind that weight loss may be temporary, especially if you return to your previous way of eating.

I lost 87 pounds and have become a jogger using the Health Management Resources Program. It ain't a gimmick if it works. No gimmick in eating right and exercising. It's about changing your lifestyle, and changing the way you think about food and your body. Check it out, and I hope it helps someone else as much as it did me.

Right on the button. All these other programs offer is hope and an opportunity for you to provide them revenue.

The results are yours to be had for free. Watch and control what you eat. Exactly what the other programs promote....some even want you to eat what they have to sell....which is a waste of money.

And maybe most importantly get out and get active. If anybody thinks they will have a successful weight loss without DAILY exercise you are sadly mistaken or just wishful thinking.

It does require will power and a change in lifestyle to lose weight and more importantly keep it off. Why call it a lifestyle change? Because you cannot just do whatever to lose the weight and then go back to the old way of life.
That is when you become what is referred to as a yo-yo....up then down then up then down!!!!

If one is determined to lose weight, then do it the easy way....on your own and save your money.

When one experiences how much better they feel and look and how their clothes fit it amazes me how many go right back to being over weight after a weight loss attempt. The only thing that comes to mind is LAZY!! In my humble opinion (speaking about the hale hearty and healthy and not those who have an illness or affliction of any kind).
