Key Scales Ford

Has anyone purchased a car from Key Scales and opinions, good or bad

We purchased a new 2010 Ford Focus from them. Excellent dealer!

NotGolfer 11-14-2012 08:38 AM

We got our most recent vehicle from them. Guess I'd say I'm in the gray zone with this dealership. We hate car-buying as they all play such a game. Why not have the item be like in any store? This is the price, sometimes it's on sale--other times not! All the dilly-dallying around....it took up a better part of 1/2 of a day!!

Oh...and they also have "hooks" in their ads to bring you in that are bordering on not quite up and up. This certain "new" car for such and such OR you can lease for this "really good price". You go in...it's stripped down BUT they can offer you this other version. So guess your experience will be individual!

you are so right NotGolfer about the wheeling and dealing. I agree, the should just have a set price and that's it. I do understand that they are trying to make the most commission they can on the sale, and probably hoping some people will take the first price they offer. In fact, have friends and family who do just that. I on the other hand, did not come to FL.with a case full of money, so need to get the best possible price on my trade and price of new vehicle. Went there and had this LONG back and forth, but salesmen seemed very nice. Always try to get you to buy it right then and there, but not my way of working. Do my homework first.

Have purchased 2 vehicles from Key Scales Ford, all with a great experience. Ask for Bruce Johnson, General Sales Manager, if you have any questions or need help. I have purchaed a lot of cars and they were able to provide me great customer service.

great dealer

We bought our 2012 Edge EcoBoost and love it and the dealership. Great experiences with the service also. See Rod Burger, our salesman and tell him Chuck Horsley sent you.:spoken:

Yuck! Can't tolerate the dealin' although my Dad lived for it! Bought our last two cars through Costco and Edmunds.com. PrIce quote on line from dealer, go in, test drive, pay and go. Any kind of car you want. If you don't like it, no obligation. Pick the color, etc. they get it for you. No haggle, no hassle. No problem. Will do this again for next car. Have also bought several cars the usual way.

I would give there service department a D- Would never go back again!
Have had no experience with there sales department.

I have bought two cars from them..The haggling, to me, is just part of the experience...the first one, I had a perceived negative experience with their service dept..As it turned out, they were exactly right and the modification I had performed was what caused the failure..Their sales mgr, Bruce, will go out of his way to try and make you happy. Just brought my girlfriend up here from Boca. She wanted a new Mustang and was very specific in what she desired..Keyscales went out of their way to find the car and have it here in one day..She saved thousands compared to the prices she had been given in south Florida.. I highly recommend them.

rp001, I followed your story about your K&N fowling the sensor. Was in an auto parts store the other day and talked to a guy who had a dodge truck with a K&N and was being jacked around by the dealer throwing hundreds into fix after fix with no resolution. Told him about your experience and he had a eureka moment.

I'm glad your case worked out well. BTW, I have a K&N in my Ford diesel truck but try not to over-oil it.

Not to get off topic, but for the record, I never added any oil to mine..It was what came right out of the box. I think it's just the close proximity of the sensor to the airbox that allows the oil to fowl the map. One thing that bothers me is K&N never responded to my e-mail and Ford knows of the problem but doesn't reference it anywhere in their manuals or sales brochures.

I have bought 3 cars in the past 30 years from Key Scales and they are in some ways like most car dealerships, trying to make money by selling and servicing cars.
The negotiating is unnerving to many people but with the right information on the car you are buying you have the power to say yes or no, just don't get to emotional about it.
The Service department was ok for the limitted needs I had.

I cant think of a more dishonest service dept. These guys are the most ignorant people I have ever ran across. Who ever is in charge should have their head examined allowing the people running this dishonest business to continue operating in the way it is currently being operated. DONT EVER TAKE YOUR CAR THERE FOR ANYTHING. DONT EVEN LET THEM CHECK THE AIR IN THE TIRES.

We bought in March of 2012. Got an average price. Felt slimy by the time we left, with the salesman being hyper-friendly, going back and forth to manager, etc. After the sale, we almost felt stalked with their attempts to get us to answer a sales experience questionaire. They called, emailed, snail-mailed repeatedly for over a month, stating how important it was. The frustration/irritation at our lack of response was obvious. We never answered because we just wanted to put the whole thing behind us without damaging our ability to get help there should we ever HAVE to go back for any reason. We would never deal with them again.

Also not impressed with Key Scales. Was there three times to attempt to buy an SUV from them. Each time they said they would beat the best deal and kept "coming up" with different prices. Than when I wanted certain seating, they tell me to get a pillow. I must have spent 6 hours getting nowhere each time with their promises and ad tactics they had and no cars available. They would also not find a car at another dealership since they didn't want to pay the dealer transfer fees. I ended up at Nick Nicholas in Inverness. Very fair, good prices, and when the deal was almost done, they came back on their own and said, guess what we found another's $5 a month in savings for you. I worked with Rex there.
