Renters using storage units
 

Since we live 32 hours from the Villages and would probably fly to Florida to rent for a month or so a year for a few years until we retire, we were wondering if others have been doing this and have used storage units for golf clubs, bicycles, and probably a few plastic storage tubs of miscellaneous stuff.

I use a storage unit and I live here. I moved from a house with a basement to The Villages, even though we downsized and sold / threw away / gave away and donated stuff we still couldn't fit all of our valuables into our house so we also rent a storage unit. I'm hoping to talk my wife into getting rid of more stuff so we can fit it all in and not store it.

There are plenty of storage units here, however your rental may have room for bikes, etc. welcome to the villages! Also renting a 3 bedroom will give you room for some storage tbs, etc.

we store our things when not here in a standup storage in the garage. Golf clubs are out in the summer drys out the hossle and you have problems other than that we keep clothes and other person item there. Our clubs are in the spare bedroom and it works fine

I think the OP is interested in storing personal property locally, between season rentals. Sounds like a great idea.

If you plan on renting from the same owner each year, they might agree to let you leave golf clubs or a couple of storage containers with them or at the rental. We do that for a lady that rents from us each year from Dec to May.
