Key Scales Ford apology
 

I recently had a part failure and service done at Key Scales Ford..I thought that I had been unfairly charged and bitterly complained about it here and with the Seniors vs Crime..Well as it turns out I was totally wrong and feel obligated to set the record straight..I had a map sensor fail due to contamination (bug) and thought the 400 dollar plus bill to be ridiculous..Well a couple of weeks ago it happened again. The car failed on the Turnpike at Yee Haw Junction and I had to be towed all the way to Vero to have the Map sensor cleaned so the car would run. As it turns out, the installation of the oil impregnated K&N filter did cause the problem as the oil was sucked into the intake and contaminated the sensor..Today I attempted to make it right with them. I brought my GF from Boca here and she purchased a brand new 13 mustang. It's a gorgeous car and hats off to Bruce the sales mgr and Fred Almonte, the salesman for finding the car in another part of the state and bringing it here. No local Boca dealers were trying to help her get the car she wanted..The sale went off without flaw and she is extremely happy. I would recommend them to all my friends and anyone else that asks. Again I'm very sorry for any damage I may have inflicted on their reputation, they are great folks.

Glad to hear all is well with your vehicle and a new 13 Mustang has found a good home for you to enjoy. I've been fortunate to enjoy Ford products since our 1971 Torino we inherited from my father in-law. I've been on the Ford "Soaring" ride since. As far as the dealer....I'm sure they are just happy they were able to get your problem corrected and retain you as a FORD customer. :eclipsee_gold_cup:

I own a 2010 Mustang convertible and I love it. I use Key Scales for all the scheduled maintenance and they are great people to deal with.

can you fix the original posting?
 

When future readers do a search on Key Scales Ford they will get the hit for your original complaint. They may read that and not see your retraction here. Is it possible for you to edit or remove that original post? Is it possible for the moderator to remove the thread?

Thanks, I went back through 5 pages of comments and corrected all of my posts regarding this subject,primarily the service provided by Keyscales..There are a few other postings that are pertinent to the filter issue put up by other folks that I have no control over...One small fact that does remain is that Ford is well aware of this issue and there are no warnings about after market parts, and K&N is aware and never once responded to my e-mails. As a public service it is important that folks understand that use of these oil impregnated filters in this vehicle can leave them stranded.

Great reply. We bought our last car from Keys and was treated very well to include the price of the new car and what they allowed for our trade in was better than those I shopped with. :eclipsee_gold_cup:

FWIW....... For me, the key to success when using a K&N air filter (or any other similar "oiled" air filter) has been to only use the bare minimum amount of oil that it takes to get the filter element covered. I under-oil a bit first then let the filter sit to see how far the oil will wick through the element. The first time I oiled a filter after cleaning it, I overdid it and had a bit of a mess on my hands. Fortunately, I didn't wind up with the MAP sensor (or any other) issue like rp001 experienced.
