St. James Carriage Houses in Glenview

Does anyone know the history of the St. James Carriage Houses in Glenview? It's looks like during the evolution of TV the developer tried an experiment in attached homes but then decided against building any more? Does anyone recall this period? I would guess that the Village of Harmeswood with its million dollar homes was built about the same time but at the high end.

Dear Curious,

Aren't the town houses near Spanish Springs, the two story ones, attached to each other? I think they were used as places for life style visits at one time or another. They were still being "sold off" five years ago when we were looking to buy.

I do not know the history of the carriage home by Glenview CC but I have looked in a couple (during open houses). Very nice homes and most are two story homes. Looks like quality work in them. Great views of the golf course. Their prices are in the $359,000 range.

Very easy walk over to Glenview CC for their afternoon Happy Hours and a fairly easy crawl back to the carriage house after the Happy Hour.

Thank you all. I had completely forgotten about the town houses in SS and thought the Carriage Houses in Glenview were a one of a kind. You have to wonder if they were not successful because they never built in that style after these two examples. Even Harmeswood is a one of a kind.

I think the issue was/is the stairs. As people age they don't want to climb stairs. We have one of the models with MBR. on the first floor. Upstairs is for guests and we seldom have to up or down.

Harmeswood is absolutely unique and just right for those who still want large lots. Another thing that makes it different is the non village looking architechure of the homes there. We rented there when this home was being built.

Nice folks live there, just like all of the villages here.
