Golf Cart Fire

Was at Sandhill today about 1:30-2:00 and saw black smoke coming from an area east of us. Later I was driving home and came across the skeleton of a golf cart near the mail station beside the par 4 hole of Truman. All that was left was a blackened shell and four flat tires. Couldn't even tell if it was gas or electric. Sure hope no one was hurt,

My wife and I saw it while it was ablaze. The entire cart was engulfed in flames. You couldn't even see any of the golf cart, - we only know it was a cart because of the size and the fact that it was in the golf cart lane. We also saw what was left of the shell hours later after the fire dept. had left. Does anyone have any information as to how it happened?

That fire happened on Odell and Ardson Ave just east of the Duval pool / mail station. On my morning walk I happened upon the charred blacktop that now has traffic cones around it. There is some damage to the asphalt but not that much. Still a good cleanup will be needed. There is what is left of a hub cap still in the gutter along with other bits and pieces.

We had a 12:40 tee time at Truman, Monday, and just finished our tee shots on hole #4 when one of the guys noticed the smoke. One of our group called 911 as the smoke quickly got worse. We did not know what was burning but the dispatcher said they had received calls for a golf cart on fire. Once we got to the area between holes 5 & 6 we could see the remains of the cart and the fire was out. Someone watching the action told a friend of mine that it was a gas cart but it was hard to tell from our vantage point.
