First Christmas gift?

Think as far back as you can. What was the first Christmas gift you remember getting. Mine was......I think I had to be about 6 and "Santa" got me a stuffed animal....a monkey. This monkey had suspenders and was holding a banana. I had two sisters, one a bit older and one a bit younger. We played with dolls. They played with the real dolls and I played with the monkey. I named him Chester. What memories I have of playing dolls with that stupid monkey!!! I am chuckling as I write....oh what fun!

My parents were struggling, not much extra money for gifts, but the very first Christmas gift I can remember is a doll that my younger sis and I received, I was about four years old. We named her MiMi. Much later my mom told me that they were never sure who left us that doll but she thought it was from a friend of my Grampa's. When my parents could afford to buy us dolls we each got a "Betsy Wetsy". BTW I think Chester is a great name for a toy monkey.

I remember Betsy Wetsy and Tiny Tears..also a transistor radio as a gift from my dad's shop Christmas party. I can still remember that new doll smell (probably lots of dangerous chemicals). My gift this year is a trip to TV!

I don't remember my first Christmas gift, probably a doll. What I DO remember is that because my birthday is Dec. 20 aunts and uncles would come marching up on Christmas Day with one wrapped gift - Here's your Christmas present AND your birthday present!

The first Christmas I remember is getting a doll - her name is Toodles - in a baby carriage. Still have that same doll! And many original barbies too!!!

My daughter's birthday is December 31st and she never liked it. We made sure to celebrate both Christmas and her birthday separately so that birthday would be special. Now that she is 21 she is pretty happy that her birthday is on December 31st!!

I got a Betsy Wetsy...my younger sister (11 1/2 months younger) got a Tiny Tears. That's the first Christmas present I remember...

I remember getting a "Big Boy Doll" for Christmas; everyone wanted a Big Boy Doll that year. I ran a block to my girlfriend's house so she could admire it. On the way back from her house, I fell on some ice and cracked my doll's head open. I think it scarred me for life, and probably explains why I've never had children. :girlneener:

Hopalong Cassidy cap pistol, holster and lunch box. Took them all to kindergarten.
If I did that today they'd call in a swat team.

I can say that the one thing I didn't get was a Johnny Reb Canon. I won't be leaving this low point out of my book and fully intend on discussing this on Oprah.

The 1st toy I recall was my Tiny Tears Doll...then a Walking Doll for Christmas when we lived in Italy. Wish I still had them:(

JBlum- My brother's birthday was 12/27. Each year all of the aunts and uncles did the same thing to him...here's your Christmas and birthday present. My mother took them all aside one year and explained VERY CLEARLY to them that they were never to do that again. I believe her expression was "buy the damn toy in July and save it for the kid!" Mom had such a way with words...
