Love the Brownwood and the Farmer's Market

Some time back on the wish list for The Villages, I suggested sculptures modern or otherwise that we see in Europe. Well, it wasn't European sculptures but love those I saw at the entrance to Brownwood--the lone cowboy, his companion dog and the cattle. It really gives the area uniqueness nowhere else to be found. Hope the developer will continue putting up more sculptures where appropriate. Added to that, our Saturday Farmers Market. Wow! Love it. We've been going practically every week. Our ritual is to go get our fix of Nathan's hotdog either chili or sauerkraut and moving on to get our vegetables for the week, fresh bread and some cheeses. I think this will be a very successful venue at Brownwood.

I agree. I pray the bronze sculptures don't become a target for vandals. It's good to see they are lighted and there are cameras directed toward them in case some idiot tries to damage them.

The market is a weekly must-do for us as well. So far, we've found the veggies to last quite a bit longer in the fridge than from other stores. Can't wait until more Florida and local produce arrive.

The hotdogs at the stand are "The Best"

Went again today and bought small local honey bottles from two places. Will taste both and see which stall is better. Apparently good for reducing allergy reaction. Also, didn't know that I can have both chili and sauerkraut on Nathan's hot dog for same price. Tasted good. Next week might try Bratwurst.

Great addition toThe Villages . Great venue for a Farmers Market. Hope it can be preserved throughout the buildout and continue to be integrated into the center of things. Another thoughtful Home Run for our Home Town . These "guys " know what they are doing.

I agree on both Brownwood and the market

Love the Farmers market and the vegetables are WONDERFUL. We have had great tomatoes, eggplant, green onions, sweet potatoes, green beans, cabbage and leaf lettuce. I can't think what I left out but some things for sure.

If you around noon they are marking things down.

LOVE IT!!

Had one of those dogs this AM with mustard and sauerkraut.. yummy! Attendance seemed down this AM by at least half. Probably because of the wind chill factor.
At one of the small displays a man and woman were sitting behind the table chilln' out. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...y_freezing.gifhttp://www.smiley-lol.com/smiley/sai.../bleufesse.gifThe guy asked us if we would run to buy a heater for them if he gave us the money. Told him can't do, but I would go find two sticks they could rub together to produce some heat! I should have ducked!

Also told my wife that it's a good thing they're only there once a week and that we don't get there every week. We wound up spending in the triple figures. :$:

I love having the farmers market at Brownwood, and I am glad the Villagers are giving the market their patronage. I am still not too crazy about the fake Western cowboy movie stage look of Brownwood. Guess I just don't like that type of architecture....I love Sumter Landing.

:a20: Very funny! Are there any inside restaurants open yet?

There are quite a few stalls for vegetables. Do you have a preference? We are still deciding. There is only one stall near the "exit" of the market which sells Asian sweet potatoes. Otherwise, all others seem to be about the same.

Not that I'm aware of yet. I'd bet they're waiting for more developement < crowds rather than risk losing money for a lack of customers. Could also be that there are other reasons that we don't know about yet!

For something other than veggies try A Wish or Two Ago.They are always located on the south side of the square and have the BEST French breads and pastries here in TV. Now here you have to get there early as I am sure they sell out very fast. Today I noticed that the Biscotti's were half gone and it was not even 10:00 yet. The turnovers are oh so good. Their breads are very very good.

If I were a betting person I would bet that they sell out every week as there is always a line of people waiting to buy.

We got there a little after 9 and we were the ones that bought up half the Biscotti's! You're absolutely right about the turnovers. I bought one and had it with a cup of coffee from the coffee stand to their right. Didn't work though. I was still cold after the coffee!
