Driving - Need help

We will be coming to TV for the month of April, hopefully to buy (finally!). We'll be driving from Syracuse, NY with our dog, so I think we would want to stop twice overnight on the way down. Any advice on where would be good places to stop? I hope some of you snowbirds may have made similar drives! Thanks!

we drive down fro the jersey shore, so am not sure that our stopover in florence, sc would be that convenient on a trip with two stops. but here is some travel info i have collected and use every trip:

We drove the dogs from NJ in July. The LaQuinta hotels are completely dog friendly.

I agree the LaQuinta Hotels are the best to stay with pets. They even worked with me to have a room near an exit.

They always give us a 1st floor room by an exit.

Red Roof Inn accepts dogs ...no charge...we have a german shepherd & never had a problem.

We always stay at La Quinta! They give us a first floor room, usually near an exit, and there is no charge for pets! Highly recommend...

LQuinta... Dogs on first floor, Cats on second floor
Red Roof Inn... I didn't see cat/dog segregation at our hotels

We stayed at both hotels on our trip, and they were great with the pets!
