Irrigation water hose connection
Has anyone hooked up a hose to the irrigation water.
I am thinking about doing this so I can use irrigation water to hand water some of my plants and in the summer put a little extra water on brown spots on the lawn. If someone has a DIY post on doing this it would be great. If not maybe someone with some experience doing it will post one.* I think this would be a good way to cut some water bill cost. |

I did it and use it to hand water plants. I addedd an extra shut off valve to shut off the hose bib. You will need to put a "dog leg" in the pipe under ground, since you will not be able to spread the pipe to install a "T" Cost about $50 to install. Used it a lot when new new lawn and plants were installed. Not so much now.

I wonder if there might be a code issue here. Being that irrigation water isn't fit to drink. Might some kind of warning be needed on this hose connection?

Another suggestion: consider adding drip lines to water specific plants and garden spots. They are easy to install and automatic.

Irrigation water is 0-7000 gals @ $1.92/thousand Sewer 0-10,000 gals @ $4.22/thousand Potable water is taxed at 5%. Another option is to pray for rain. |
Water costs too much here

Since our lanai did not have gutters, we added and put in two rain barrels to catch run off and water plants. So far so good for us. Might be something you can consider
