Cable vs Direct TV
 

I know this has probably been rehashed way too many times but I couldn't find the posts. We have Direct TV here and we really like it, except when the weather is bad. Does anyone have an opinion on Direct TV vs Cable?

We've had Direct T V since 1999 . Less problems here then up pm in Massachusetts. In fact probes are virtually non existent here

We have cable and have never had problems. But if we had problems there is an actual office we can go to and talk to a live person. With Direct TV, there is no office and no live person. With satellite, we had nothing but problems, had to sign a two-year contract, and couldn't get help without a great deal of time calling and holding and listening to endless voice menu's. Enough!

Though we aren't living in our TV home full-time yet, we will go with cable. Neither of us like the look of the dish on our house, so cable it is.

Though I see mixed reviews in this forum, I've been very happy with Comcast cable!

If you a sports nut, Direct TV is the way to go. NFL package and MLB package.

I don't have a dog in the fight but I have read a lot of threads on this decision. Direct TV does not go out often and if it does, it is for a very short period of time.

We've had an excellent experience with Directv. We almost never lose the signal, probably because they use an HD Dish which is just a little bigger and more oval than the old round dishes.

We have DTV and never a problem talking to a real live service tech.

We've had Directv for years and have always spoken to a "live" rep for problems. In the beginning, yes, reception was a problem with bad weather. However, it has improved greatly throughout the years. We will continue to use Directv when we make the move to TV in the Spring. We just got the new "Genie" receiver and enjoying it.

They have very good customer service. You have to sign a 2 year package but when you renew they always offer you something if you tell them you are thinking of switching. I have the nfl package twice and haven't paid anything. Major leauge baseball is also great.

Have had DTV for many years. We're thinking of cutting back on our package. It's way too expensive for what we actually watch. Bought a ROKU and NETFLIX. Now we have almost unlimited access to movies and TV series at our fingertips at ANY time.

Do you need approval from the CDD or anyone for placement of the dish?

DirecTV gets my vote for all the good reasons listed so far.

What do you use for internet service if you get Direct TV? We have had satellite in the past in MD and hated it - always out when cloudy. We have had Comcast since we moved here in May, and our bill, with telephone and internet is over $200 - waaaaay too expensive.
