Trigger finger ?

Has anyone experienced having "trigger finger"?. I have it on my thumb and 2nd finger from cutting up branches into little pieces for waste truck to take. I guess what I'm really asking, did you find having surgery the best solution, or therapy or cortizone shots? Planning to see doctor in another week.

I've had trigger finger in both hands...the middle finger and the ring finger too. Painful!! I had chiropractic manipulations to help with it. Plus I would massage my hand in the area that I felt it's beginnings on up into the finger and this would help. For me...it went away but I know of some folks who've had to have surgery for it. Before I'd do that I'd pursue other options.

I have trigger finger on my right ring finger. I have a shot about every 6 -9 months from Dr Monique Grey at the Musculoskeletal Institue in Sumter Landing. Takes care of the problem. Good luck.

Had it in 3 fingers in the right hand about 7 years ago. Got a shot in each finger & it's never been back since.

I had triger finger in my thumb. Tried a cortisone short and did not work. Had the operation, pretty simple. They make an insicison about an inch to an a half at the base of the thumb. At that point they can fix the problem. Hurts the first day, but they will give you pain meds. You will be back to normal in a week to a week and a half. Good luck!!

Do they put you to sleep for operation, or do they just numb the hand? Does the incision around thumb take care of other finger also?

They just numb the area around the thumb. No it does not include the finger. Triger finger/thumb is caused by the tendon catching on the joint, so each finger/thumb has its own. The operation is easy and does not take much time at all. If the cortisone doesn't work go for the operation. Good Luck!

Just had visit with primary Doctor, and he referred me to hand doctor. Office will call, for appointment. Said they are busy. Did say that they would probably give shot first in each finger that is bothering me.

I had it on my pinkie finger. Very painful. Tried the shots but didn't work. Went for surgery It was done four years ago and no problems since.

Shots did not work for me. I had surgery on both hands - numbed the hands - very simple. Just fine now.
