It's pork and sauerkraut for us. What is it for you?

Tradition says that we should eat pork and sauerkraut on the first day of the year. So we will. What is your tradition for good luck on this day?
Our table is set for this evening. So lucky to have wonderful folks to share dinner with.

Pork is a must. We also have collard greens (for a rich new year), black eyed peas (for a healthy year), lentil soup (also for a healthy year), and cornbread just because it tastes good! We have combined our Italian and Southern traditions to make for a happy, healthy and wealthy New Year!

Definitely going with the pork and sauerkraut tradition this year. Found an interesting recipe for the crock pot so will free me up for the day!

Collard greens cooked with smoked pork hock; black-eyed peas and rice (Hopping John); and cherry pie. The greens and pork for prosperity in the new year; the rice and peas for good health. I don't know what the cherry pie is for, it just looks good.
XOXOXO and Happy New Year to all

We're going to be with friends and their family for a pork and sauerkraut extravaganza this evening. "Pass the pork.......and I'll pass on the sauerkraut, thank you!" :D

Hoppin' John, turnip greens with smoked ham hock, and cornbread. Simple but good ole comfort food. Happy New Year everyone!

From my Dad's Pennsylvainian Dutch tradition, pork and greens for wealth and health and sneaking in yams and left over apple pie.
Happy New Year

If you like Whitey's, try Krystal up in Ocala. They're virtual clones of one another when it comes to their burgers.
