Having trouble replacing GE fridge water filter

We are having a problem changing out our GE water filter in our fridge. Anyone else have trouble? It says to just line it up, push up and twist. We can't seem to get it to catch. Help!

I just happened to replace my GE fridge water filter this afternoon. I did a simple twist to remove the old one, filled the new one with water, lined it up, did a simple twist, and it clicked into place. My wife was amazed that I did not break it!!

Are you sure you have the correct filter?

If anyone needs help in figuring out the correct filter for their GE frige, go to this link:

https://www.geapplianceparts.com/GEA...s/filterfinder

We just got a filter using this page and have even signed up for a new filter to be automatically sent to us every 6 months. (different options provided) The change was a snap... or should I say a twist!

Make sure you have the "O" ring in place. :bigbow:

Oh man, thanks bimmerti for the video and skyguy79 for the link.

That item saves a ton in drinking water! Thanks again.

I have a GE refrigerator and after seeing all these instructions I cannot find any filter. I don't think my refrigerator has a filter, at least one that can be replaced.

If it delivers drinking water thru the door it has to have a filter

If that's the case then I will need to get a plumber to change the filter. There is no filter inside the refrigerator. If there is one it is probably in the outside back of the unit.

It's very possible someone put the bypass plug in place of the filter. My filter is inside the refrigerator on the top right side. If the bypass plug is installed, it would appear there is no filter. Hope this helps.
