Happy hour at mallory

Mallory country club has changed it's happy hours to 1-4pm. This started last friday when terry torres plays regularly on fridays. When customers learned of the happy hour not in effect, most left. Place was almost empty at 5pm. not good for golfers getting done with afternoon wave and stopping for a $13.00 pitcher of beer. Havana as of today switched to happy hour till 6pm which is fine with me. Used to be all day.:undecided:

I used Facebook to contact Mallory Hill Country Club to see if this was true. One of their employees wrote back that the Happy Hour was changed to 1-4 pm last Friday.

Definitely, that will have a BIG impact on their business. They do have very good pizza but I will be going elsewhere.

Amazing----when something is working they change it! Restaurant a tough tough business.

One of my favorite happy hours

I was in there the first day this went into effect at 2P after golf. I joked with the bartender which I know well and like... "this is not going to work for me"

I do not understand why they doing it, they will catch the morning wave folks, but IMO 2-6 was much better..... We often would hop over to the pool at 4ish to relax and grab a drink or two and an appetizer. We will likely not do that as often when it is not happy hour...

Up to them of course, will see what happens....

:agree:
We too were surprised on Friday. Came in after golf (about 5:00) for a drink and dinner, and found out about the change. While we really like the bartenders, I think we'll not be there as much....Like you say, we'll see..........

Happy hours should be not be allowed in The Villages. Too many folks can't control their drinking so what do we do here? Give them 1/2 price drinks for a limited period of time so they can drink as much as they can and then drive home in a cart or a car. I bet happy hours are the cause of a lot of nutty drivers. We all should note the time when we see nutty drivers. Some states do not allow happy hours and I agree with that. Alcohol is a very bad drug, it kills more people and destroys more families than cars or guns. When a drunk driver kills, you don't see people trying to enforce "alcohol control". Why is that? What kind of a wacky society do we live in?

Happy hours are not the problem. 99% of those who go out for a drink during happy hour don"t over indulge. A couple of beers after golf or 2 drinks with your dinner are what most village residents see as the norm. For those who overdue it, they will simply drink more at home and then get on the road and cause problems.

Do you have access to information the the rest of us don't? Please share your source and I will concede.

For my 2 to 3 beers, happy hour or not, wouldn't effect where I go. I go where I'm comfortable, if I have to worry about an extra 2 or 3 bucks I'd stay home. I do see the point of the " heavy drinkers" who are sitting at the bar for 3 to 5 hrs a day and they will go where they can drink the cheapest.

No facts, just going to happy hours for 40 years and observing peoples habits. Other than outlawing alcohol completely, your not going to stop people from drving impaired.

We went to Mallory one week and happy hour was until 6 p.m. We went the following week and found it now ended at 4 p.m. I usually just have one glass of wine so money is not really the issue. However, I do not like the idea of Mallory changing their policy.

I would be willing to bet an ice-cold Yeungling (half-price, of course) that Mallory Hill Country Club reverts to the former 6pm Happy Hour after Snowbird Season (mid-April or so) ends.

Bonifay has also stopped their daily low priced drink specials and I would bet those do come back after the snowbird season.

Just a guess: Mallory might have changed the timeframe for their happy hour in order to help make more room for people coming in for dinner.

Bill :)
