Pythons in the Everglades.

Has anyone seen some pictures of any pythons that have been caught this week??? Has many been killed? Curious??:loco::boxing2::ho:

According to the news this morning, they've killed 23 pythons so far. The thought is that many will be killed now that the weather is cooling off and the snakes need to move out of the grass to get the sun's heat. The hunt ends February 10.

I know that the pythons are not native to Florida but they are magnificent creatures. I really hate that another method can't be considered or used to remove them from the Everglades.

:mmmm:
The python's diet consists of small mammals and birds, the larger the python the larger the prey which also includes dogs and cats.

How do they know there are thousands if they have only found 23 at this point. I know they are saying because of the habitat damage, but maybe it is something else causing the problem. Obviously no has seen them in mass numbers so perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree!

My daughter lives in Miramar/Pempoke Pines.. and they killed a small python in their garage last wk.. this is a gated community .. how dare those snakes break protocol and come in uninvited..they thought no big deal since it was little.. but I asked , " yes, but where is the mamma snake of this little one???

Why can't they train a whole bunch of good pythons to go in & get the bad pythons? A Python Patrol.

That's what the IN-ARE-AY would do. (keeping it non-political)

The only good python is one that is in his natural environment.

Just one mother will birth 60 to 100 baby snakes. It does not take many years at that rate for the python to dominate an environment.

Steve they R egg layers average 12-36, not all make it, the gators love the little & medium.

Average in the wild is 12'

Just read the article in Daily Sun regarding the python hunt. A veteran hunter was quoted that he has killed a twelve foot snake the past two years and each contained 50 eggs.
