GE water softener deal
 

I guess many have had a knock on the door by this contractor to sell a GE brand unit.

I was approached by him via a phone call through a welcome basket person.

I was to receive a $25 HD gift card if he cound drop off a brochue and & explain the system.

I love HD......so sure stop by.

Who is Peter Forness, he put him self out as a GE employee, a trusted name, so U R dealing with GE not a contractor.....not true.

He gave my a line about the filters and I said ok I'll think about it give me my gift card for $25.

OOOOH no can't unless I test your water it takes an hour.

Anyway the BS pitch went on for now over 5 minutes and I had stuff to do so I said take some water and report back....nope can't do that...

I said goodby, don't let the door hit U in the butt.

He wanted $5000 for the unit.

Last night I was at a party and met a few people that was also tagged with this guy, they were quoted $7500, then after not bitting on that deal a followup call was $5,000.

Another person was quoted $4,000.

So even if U assume $4,000 was the lowest there R home owners that got RIPPED OFF paying $7500.

Did anyone else go thru this and should a complaint be filed?

I went through something like this with All About Water and Solar. I ended up getting the water filtration system along with the ros for $2750. I would never buy from them or do any business with them again. Just saying they must have a lot of leeway on the prices they quote - because ours started out with approx. $6,200, then approx. $4,900, then $2750.

Red Flags! Red Flags!Should see it coming when the price is negotiated down. Who else does that but a scammer.
These crooked water softner sales people been doing this since we arrived in 2001. Wouldn't a reputable company quote a price and stay with it??? Gotta wake up people.
By the way TV is not unique in having these kind of sales people.

Do you need a water softener system or water filtration system? Are they the same thing?? :undecided:

No they R 2 different things, a whole filter, cleans the water of sediments and Chlorine along with other nasty stuff.

It does not soften water, many folks R happy with that difference for about $275 for for good commercial grade one.

That's what I'm installing next week for my self and a few of my friends.

The same company offers a great Softener a professional level model not like the HD Boss, for $1500 installed
