Have you refinished your cabinets?

Anyone refinish the kitchen cabinets that came with the house?

Haven't done it, but really want to. Have oak and they just look soooo dated and the house is only 4 years old. Investment Painters gave me a quote to paint them and I'm seriously considering doing this. The boxes are strong and the cost of replacing them would be beyond my budget. Just one of the many things on the "to do" list.

As I'm typing the aluminum siding on my enclosed lanai is being taken down and replaced with sheet rock. We found we literally live on the lanai and decided we want it to be more like a "room". Heat and air will be added with an additional vent off the existing system. Yes, the unit can handle it.

My kitchen cabinets worked well and I had them updated/repainted and they came out awesome but I am in CT. I also had new handles installed. It was a lot cheaper than resufacing them or replacing them. I also had my countertop painted so it looks like granite.

It was done by www.bradleypaintingct.com if anyone wants to see a video of how they came out.

Like I said, I am in CT.

Rust-Oleum Cabinet Transformations is a great product for minimal cost that gives your kitchen a great little facelift. Friends in Clermont used it to update their "pickled" finish cabinets to a deep mahogony and looks like a new kitchen. Thwere is also a counter top refinisher but I havent seen that product used.

Thank you. I am waiting for my my stove to be hook-up and it's a big magilla with the condo associatrion as he needs to turn off the gas main and recut the pipe to fit the new stove. I have several people lined up to see my unit and this is holding everything up. :cus: :cus: :cus:

I have someone coming tomorrow that is dying to see my unit and I was informed they don't mind the stove being in the middle of the kitchen. I am hoping for the best.

Thank you again for the compliment and watching the video.

We refaced ours with oak. The old ones had 10 (!!) layers of paint on them...they were stripped down and the doors were replaced. We refaced the counter top too. Doc's Restoration did it and what a beautiful job they did!!

I recently had my oak kitchen cabinets painted by Steve's Onsite Services.
They did a wonderful job. They spray painted the cabinets inside and out. The cabinets went from a drab boring oak that looked inexpensive to beautiful professionally finished high end cabinets. I could not be happier with the finished product.

I repainted mine with 2 different products. Rustoleom Transformations was the best, but I wish I could have afforded to have them spray painted. They would look much better and they are rubbing off some. The other product was sold on HSN and it is awful for peeling. Could anyone out there that had them spray painted, give us some idea of cost. I might be able to work that into my budget someday:)

Thanks for the feedback - I looked at the Rustoleom product and watched the video and though labor intensive looked nice. I wondered how it held up and I guess you have answered that question.

Painting Kitchen Cabinets

Cabinets have to be sanded then primed with XIM bonding primer then painted 2 coats of Sherwin Williams Pro Classic trim Paint. My cabinets were painted over 5 years ago with no problems. My wife and I both cook so this is a working kitchen. Call 352-446-8875 to set an appointment to see ours Len & Mary.
