Dustin Hoffman's "The Quartet"
Just returned from seeing "The Quartet" at the Rialto.
I recommend this movie to anyone who is aging! An excellent movie about four retired opera singers who live in a home for the elderly, a retirement home for musicians and opera singers. Dustin Hoffman created a wonderful film that left one sitting in their seat, begging for an encore. If you happen to go see it, do not leave before the credits roll. I repeat...do not leave before the credits roll. You will be pleasantly surprised. |
I think I will pass. Seeing enough of that now in TV

Although The Villages is wonderful, if there were really a retirement place nearby (or even in the U.S.) like "The Quartet", I'd be there in a heartbeat!

I'm with you Quirky! I saw the movie last week - totally enjoyed it!

although the movie was a bit slow, I have to say I did enjoy it also. Especially if you like opera or were ever a musician!! Nice movie, no violence.

I finally had a chance to see this "on-demand" - what a great movie. And I cried all the way through the credits at the end, where they show each cast member, along with a picture of them in the prime of their musical careers.

I was disappointed in the movie. It was okay but not really a comedy.
The credits were interesting. Z |
I just saw the movie on DVD borrowed from the Belvedere Library. I enjoyed it and had the benefit of listening to Dustin Hoffman explain a lot about the movie. The movie was very unique in that the cast consisted of retired opera singers and retired musicians. And the woman who played the part of a doctor was actually a doctor. It was not your typical movie.
