You Are My Sunshine Song Lyrics

B.B. King - You Are My Sunshine Lyrics

Who thinks they know ALL THE LYRICS to “You Are My Sunshine”.......?????

Click hyperlink above and keep scrolling downward.........

After buying one of the Hallmark Musical Valentine cards for my toddler grand daughter, I wondered if there were more lyrics than I knew......yup.

I can just picture the oldtime folks singing this very long and catchy song.......folks from Louisiana will enjoy this...........

The Hallmark musical cards are adorable......got the “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” for the baby........nice online website if there is no Hallmark local store available.

My cell phone ring tone is Pete Seeger singing You Are My Sunshine, it is the song I used to sing to my daughter every day.

That's great. It is a cheery melody.....although sad too.....if a song can be both.

I only knew the first two verses and the chorus - never knew there was more, especially the Louisiana part. Thanks for posting it.

I used to sing this to my cat! She loved it, always came running. She's been gone for half a decade. Nice memories; thanks.

The memory of hearing little Caylee Anthony singing it is forever stuck in my heart.

I think that BB might have made up those last two verses himself. He's known for doing that sort of thing. If you research the lyrics and the song you won't find anyone else ever singing them.
It's also possible that they were lyrics sung by cotton pickers who often made up their own lyrics to popular songs as well. BB worked on a cotton plantation until he found that he could make more money playing the guitar.

Very cute. Lucky cat. They all have such unique character.
Yours was musical.

We miss our cats also......but not the litter boxes.

Ditto here. Unfortunately, I cannot get that song out of my head now.

Since today is Groundhog Day, maybe it will stick around awhile longer.

Oh.........you are right. How could I forget that?

We heard it often, day after day.........maybe that's why the Hallmark musical card made such an impression on me......although I forgot little Caylee singing it........

I wouldn't be surprised if what you say above is true.......especially if that's his pattern (making up extra verses, etc.)........it actually did cross my mind. I have no idea who BB King is.......it just was the first set of lyrics that popped up when I typed the song into the search engine.

Since he did work on a cotton plantation.......all the more plausible that he made up the extra lyrics to pass the time away..........during his long day of work.

My 15 minutes of fame

Ok - have I got a story to add to this one. Gov Jimmie Davis was a close family friend. My grandfather, Archie M. Smith, was a CPA and at one time in his career was Supervisor of Public Funds for the state of Louisiana with an office in the State Capitol in Baton Rouge.

When I was between 2-3 years old, I used to sing "You Are My Sunshine" in my toddler fashion. My grandfather thought I was "so cute" that he took me to the governor's mansion to visit his friend and to let me sing "You are my Sunshine". No memories of this for me, no pictures, but a true story per my grandfather and my mother.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane and a nice smile.
