Another WOWSER house.

I saw this while browsing the resales, something I do from time to time to see if prices are changing or just because I like to see interior decor.

I found this one that is in Hickory Head Hammock. One of the few villages that only residents of THAT village have the pass to enter.

Check out the HUGE master bedroom in this home. Wow.

P.S. I don't sell real estate here or anywhere ever. This is just a bit of shared interesting info.

Quite nice !

A real beauty... who knew?

Beautiful home!

We've been here nearly 7 years and I had never heard of any village that restricted access to residents of that village, and their guests. What other villages fall under that restriction?

WOW is right!

Stunning! You could get lost in that bedroom. One of my favorite pastimes is looking at houses. Here in NJ alot of organizations (PTA, hospital fundraisers etc) have "Kitchen Tours" where you get to go into a home and see usually a newly renovated kitchen. Quite a few tours have the local restaurants come and provide appetizers to intice you to try their food. Of course you have to go through the home to get to a kitchen, so you get to peek into the rest of the home. The organization gets to raise money, you get to look at some beautiful homes and get fed besides. Win, win.

Kinda nice, but I moved here to get away from "BIG". I see the bond is paid, that's a +. Also NO pool or spa, that's a -. Not for me, thanks. :icon_bored:

Sweet....

The huge lot and privacy is worth it! I do agree that no pool is a downer, but you can always add one. Keep looking Gracie.....the homes are fun to view.

I was in Hickory Head Hammock once for a club meeting. The odd thing is that there are some enormous homes, like this one, but most are just normal designer homes. The trees are spectacular!

Oh this is fascinating - not only a beautiful home but it explains where I was once when I got lost and found there was a hidden area that I could not get in to. All this time, I have wondered what was going on back there - now I know. What a beautiful home and a beautiful area.

My understanding is that Mr. Schwartz and his family used to live in that compound... I believe "the Family" have since moved out to the area between Tierra Del Sol Country Club and the Polo Fields.

I could be wrong....

I think you're right on this! JUST heard about this "compound" a few months ago but not sure how you get there (I'm directionally challanged). The house is gorgeous. My favorite photo was the one with the glass wall/ceiling---maybe the inner courtyard??!! BUT who would want the upkeep?? We downsized to a cottage series and I'm quite satisfied to not have all the "stuff" to dust and move around.

Wow. You could land an airplane in the master bedroom.
What a house.

I'm pretty sure you're right, although other family members may now occupy some houses in Hickory Hill Hammock, explaining the privacy of the community. Note that in the supplement to the deed restrictions linked in a post above, Mark Morse was the president of the homeowners association. In fact, I think he still may live in the compound. It is also true that some family members also live in houses on the property north of 466 east of the Polo Club. I think Gary Morse lives in the house only barely visible from 466 that's right next to the Hampton Inn hotel on the west.

A lot of the property along 466 belongs to Lord Lyall as his home and the site of his very active polo pony training business and private polo club. The Lyall family has lived on that property for decades. Lyall's parents were both equine veterinarians and moved there to get away from the hustle, bustle and congestion of Ocala many years ago. The other family that was a huge property owner here was the Bailey family. Harlold Schwartz either bought or traded almost all of the land owned by the Bailey family which is now The Villages. The locals say that at one time you couldn't throw a stone far enough around here and not hit property owned by the Baileys.

I used to have a home like that - but, since downsized to a CYV. I was the dusting. By the time you finished room 18, it was time to begin again at room 1. Oye', vat a pain. Also, I kept getting lost. Nothing worse than needing to pass water and end up in the drawing room. Also, the cat was so afraid of losing her way, she just stayed in the closet - though it was a big closet. Still, the living room was great when filled with water and frozen over... a good skate does the soul well.
