For installation, I had a great experience with Barry Wiser Floor Coverings, Inc. at 352-457-3274. He and his brother, Brian Wiser, used to work for East Coast Flooring and Roberto's, but now work as independent installers and also as subcontractors. They have been laying laminate, tile, & carpet for 18 years and do an incredible job, plus they are really nice, polite, friendly guys.
Because I have severe arthritis, I wanted to cover all our tile (1050 sq. ft.) including kitchen, laundry, and bath with waterproof vinyl plank. I ordered samples of lots of commercial vinyl plank online, selected Burke Commercial Vinyl Plank in Persimmon and ordered it (at $2.50 square ft.) from Yoder's Sunstate Distributers in Ocala (352-629-5833). It is heavy, springy, can be mopped with buckets of water, resists animals, dents, and golf shoes, and looks just like wood (no kidding). It was designed for high-end medical offices and office lobbies.
Toni Yoder recommended Barry & Brian Wiser for the install. After getting Barry's estimate, I ordered 5 and 1/4" baseboard delivered from Romac. I had all the furniture moved into the garage and had the tile steam-cleaned. Barry & his brother leveled and prepped the tile and grout joints with a concrete-epoxy solution, took off the old baseboard, took off the toilet, spray-painted the new tall baseboard with three layers of oil paint, installed the vinyl plank, and put in, caulked, and touched up the new baseboard and reinstalled the toilet. They cut each plank a different length so it would not have that checkerboard look that comes from using only three cut lengths of flooring. It looks incredible, as do the new baseboards. They did an absolutely perfect job; many of our neighbors have asked for their phone # after seeing our floor. Doing it this way ended up costing me half of what Lowe's estimated for the plank flooring with tile removal and $300 "sale price" plank install, and Lowe's laminate was not waterproof, not springy, and not easy on knees and feet. And doing it this way gave me a better appearance overall, in my opinion. I will try to attach photos here. Anyway, I am next going to use Barry & Brian Wiser to do a new kitchen backsplash, because they do beautiful and creative tile work as well. I would highly recommend Barry Wiser Floor Coverings, Inc. , and would recommend Yoder's Sunstate as a distributor as well.
