Kity tranquilizer from your vet

We had the same problem, and found if we just dropped a towel over her, and bundled her like a baby, she slid right in. My cat is 22 pounds, and can make herself really big when I tried to stuff her in without the towel.

No trancs unless you are willing to risk a dead cat. Most vets won't give you them...at least the good ones won't. The towel wrap does work.

Try standing the carrier on its end and "pouring" the cat in (tail first). That way, you are using gravity to help you and he can't see where he is going. Close the door quick once he is in :) Don't put too much bedding in if you do it this way as it will all clump up in the back.

Follow what Karenn said. Stand the crate on end but I always wrapped a towel around my cat before placing her in feet and tail first. This way, her rear claws where not fighting the crate, they were inside the towel.
They are just stressed being put into a crate.

I agree with others who say no drugs, use a towel!

One of my biggest concerns was traveling with the two cats. I wanted to cage them, Steve thought that they would be fine. Turns out, he was right (as always!). They initially meowed but once I opened the door of their carriers the were quite content. We're lucky, they are both indoor cats and didn't even attempt to get out of the car when the doors were opened (we were careful none the less). The have made the adjustment quite well and once they got over their fear of 'being outside' realized that the lanai and birdcage are fun places to hang out.
