Smelly Sofa
We purchased a sofa from a Villager. When we got it home we discovered that it had an odor - smells like a mixture of musty and smoke. Any recommendations on what we can do or a service to hire?

If its microfiber, you can hire someone that cleans carpets
Fabreeze ????????
White vinegar
Less chili
Yes, I agree, speak with who your purchased it from and try to get your money back.
If it were me I would kick it to the curb. You don't know what chemicals are on it or perhaps it has MOLD, either can leach into the atmosphere of your home.
I would ask for a refund....

There are remedial service companies that tackle fire and flood damage.
(musty and smokey fit the bill) But for what you will pay, it may not be worth it for a pre-owned sofa. I agree with duffysmom. I would rather sit on a box and save my pennies for a new sofa someday, than deal with mold or worse. The malady is not just on the surface, but inside the sofa as well. Sorry you had this experience. |
I agree with Tuscon. Request a refund. Seller will likely be embarrassed but I think they'd take it back. Sorry this happened to you.

If you feel that you want to keep it, I have a product that I will gladly give you to try first before you hire someone to clean it. Don't use Fabreeze as sugessted, it contains harmful chemicals you will inhale. Contact me and I will get your address and drop off the product to you. jpsmith5@comcast.net
