BBQ Tank Exchange
 

Went to HD in Lady Lake today for some errands and to exchange my empty BBQ tank. Use caution if doing this. When I got home and hooked the tank up it was barely 3/4 full. I had forgotten something so had to go back anyways and brought the tank and my gauge with me. They exchanged it and I checked the new one which showed full on the gauge. Had I not had a gauge I'd have been out of gas much to early. just remember to bring a gauge IF you have one.

When I saw their setup and the condition of the tanks/racks/etc, I decided to head over to Lowes.

BTW (not related to the HD issue) You should also momentarily try to open the valve while you are still at the store. New safety valves won't expel gas, but you will find out if the valve is jammed. Has happened to me twice in the last few years where we used to live.

Yea thanks mostly go to Lowes for refill but I was at HD so thought I could save a trip. Won't happen again. Lesson learned.

Ace hardware in southern trace will refill your tank and only charge for the amount of gas needed

I remember when they actually filled 20lb tanks to 20 lbs. :shrug:

I believe he tanks are only supposed to be filled to 80% capacity to allow for expansion. A 20 Lb tank will only have 16 lbs full.

Blue Parrot RV park fills propane tanks too.

Most of the propane exchanges give you only 15lbs.
I agree with the previous posters..."Ace is the place to go"

I did some research on propane tank refills. It seems that 20 lb tanks hold 20lbs with the required 20%. A couple of years back, some propane exchange companies reduced the amount of propane they put in the tanks so they could keep the price the same when propane prices increased.
