This article incorrectly implies that all customized golf carts have significantly higher insurance costs. In fact, the higher insurance costs are for the Street Legal carts. This article also gets the speed capabilities of the Street Legal carts wrong. A Street Legal is restricted to 25 mph, not 27 as written in the article.

There is an incredible amount of misinformation on the internet and in reporting in general these days.

No kidding. That "article" reads like a column in a high school paper...(no offense to high school journalists intended).

The State of Florida classifies LSV's as a motorized vehicle subject to the no fault/property damage law. Insurance companies insure as autos because they are required to by State law.

I absolutely agree!!! The folks that "could be" upset are the ones who bought these during the tax break....now they're having to legally pay up what the rest of us are doing who have SLV's. We who have bought them knew a head of time that they would cost more due to the nature of where they can be driven.

YOU should share ths valuable inofrmation with Our State Represenatative Marlene O'Toole and and State Senator Alan Hayes who seem to feel that those with Street legal Golf Carts are speccial and should be excempt from the laws of the state of Florida and are proposing a bill to make that happen.
