Beware of G&C Landscape

They were going to resod about 900 sq ft of our yard; ofcourse they wanted 1/2 payment, which was $840. Thay came and spent about 1/2 a day cleaning up the old grass and getting ready for the new sod. We waited and waited, they had trouble getting sod - it rained so sod couldn't be cut - the villages was taking all the sod, were the reasons for the long delay. So we finally told them we would do the job ourselves and they could keep $340 for the work they did and they agreed to give us $500 back. Ater a few months and calls they agreed to pay us $50 a month, we felt sorry for them because they were a young couple. they did pay us 1 $50 payment and that's all. :boxing2:

You did better than us with Joe Preston of Createscape. After providing the deposit, we never saw him again. Next time call Seniors against Crime before hiring anyone.

Why would you give anyone any money in advance when there R story after stories posted here not to do that?

ronsroni 02-26-2013 07:23 PM

No up-front money???

If I refuse to pay ANYTHING up front, are the contractors, etc, not going to tell us to pound salt?
I have never heard of NOTHING up front till I came here. Is it THAT common a practice?
CONTRACTORS: If you are worth your sod, will you wait on money and how long? Please weigh in here.
Thx.

Landscapers

There are some companies you will need to pay upfront so they don't get stuck with products that are made to fit for YOUR home... Such as screens and roll out pantries..

You do not pay landscapers up front!

If you need SOD work, call Matthew at ALLENS SOD Service...big or small job he can handle 352-245-8971. WE had alot more than 900 SF done and the price and terms were very reasonable...no money up front.

Same thing happened to us but it was to paint the driveway and garage and lanai. When you first move in, its overwhelming the amount of people knocking at your door. People that need to be hired for so many things. Sprinkler system. Some of us never had to do any of this. Sometimes we make mistakes in judgement. We have not been on Talk of the Villages yet, our boxes are still unpacked, lucky if our shades are up, waiting for cable, (another major decision) and some stranger knocks on your door, nicest people in the world, so you trust and understand that they really dont have the outlay money for your tree, paint, whatever. We are out $300. That should be the worst. Its all worth it to live the life, even an extra $300.00.

There is so much going on with your home when you first move in. You do have people knocking on your door with all kinds of offers. The way I look at it is , you have the rest of your life to get things done. No need to rush . It will get done . Take your time in your new home ,relax a bit.

And NEVER pay anything up front. If a contractor doesn't have the money or credit to do your job and then be paid, you probably don't want to do business with them.

is this the same g and c who sells citrus trees on 466? nice trees but an untidy presentation.
