Removing scratches from stainless steel refrigerator
HELP! I put a few refrigerator magnets from memorable vacations on the front of our new stainless steel refrigerator. Big Mistake! I now have several scratches on the door and I hope someone has a suggestion on how to remove them. Thank you.

Magnets don't stick to stainless steel.

Google "faux stainless steel" and/or "stainless steel look". There are various different coatings and metals that imitate stainless steel. They have their own requirements for cleaning and care. As already pointed out, magnets don't stick to SS, so your appliance must be one of the other types that are made to look like SS.

I received an email many years ago concerning uses for WD-40 and cleaning stainless steel appliances was one of them. I use a product like WD-40. There is a product at Walmart in the automotive section I use. Works great!

There are different grades of Stainless Steel. 400 Series and 300 Series are the most popular. 400 Series contains more iron than 300 and is therefore magnetic. In certain conditions 400 Series can rust (because of the iron) but in a normal home environment, 400 Series is fine. Stainless is stain less, not stain proof. Chlorine based cleaners can attack all Stainless.

You will need something harder than the surface that is scratched to buff out the scratches. Unless you have done this before, it is better left to a professional repair person.

Not being a smart @&%, But why not put the magnets back or a grandchilds artwork? Life's too short to worry about a scratch
