Gardening in TV
 

Are small backyard gardens allowed? We've visited TV three times and can't recall ever seeing a garden.

It'd be a matter for the Community Standards people. But, I can report an apparent "raised" garden near me. It is very visible, so I must assume that it has been approved. I know, I know, assuming such stuff may not be safe, but, the visibility tells me that complainers could not help but complain - and the Community Watch drivers can certainly see it!

Aside for the "standards" issue, I suspect the lack of gardens is mostly because folks are saying, "I'm too busy doing fun things to be worrying about whether my beans will ripen!"

There are lots of backyard gardens, including vegetables. I'm not aware of any being questioned.

Flowers yes, vegetables are suppose to be in flower pots/containers but I have seen people "tuck" a few vegetable plants in their flower garden.

Where is this stated?

There are many little gardens here neatly tucked away.
 

A Villages friend of mine who just turned 100 years of age grows beans, tomatoes,blueberries, green onions, cabbage, radishes, lettuce, rosemary, thyme, basil...and more I can't remember. Her garden is tucked neatly beside her pool and screened by a bottle brush hedge.

She also makes pie pastry from scratch and checks her investments every day on the computer.

You can take the girl off of the Ohio farm, but you can't take the Ohio farm outa the girl.

She also has one very smart and kind daughter, two very successful grandsons and three smart and beautiful little great granddaughters.(I was allowed to paint their portraits)

I did have a friend whose backyard faced St. Charles. She planted a very nice garden. Community Watch told her this was not allowed and she'd have to remove it after its growth season. So, she got the veggies for this one time, but no more.

At a patio villa in Hemingway, a woman has a full garden along the side, back and a little in the front of her house. She has had this for at least two years (and it looks ugly with all the chicken wire to protect her plants). So far as I know, no one has said a thing and it is most definitely visible when you drive by, so Community Watch can't have missed it.

So, who knows what the rule really is.

as compliance issues are 'complaint driven' community watch will do nothing to enforce violations. however, if someone complains then the deed compliance dept is obligated to come out and view the 'offense' and then act accordingly. tuck some vegetable plants in with the shrubbery beds and everything should be fine. but 8' stalks of corn will be kind of difficult to hide!

How could raised bed gardens possibly be not "safe" ???
