Sunset Point Gate

Well it didn't last long, maybe 10 days at most, since it has been fixed, but the outbound gate at Sunset Point is broke again, more than likely by someone in a rush to get off campus.

I just don't understand why everyone is in such a hurry in a retirement community.

Kind of reminds me of the military: Hurry up...to wait!

USAF (just 4 yrs.)

It use to be a weekly occurence at the Del Mar Gate

It was one of the newer round extended gate arms which go up a little slower than the older ones so someone probably couldn't wait 1 extra second.
Now there is the usual tempory stop sign that is completely ignored. What part of stop means slow down a little.

doesn't it confirm that old(er) people are in a hurry? don't care? age has it's priveledges? rules are for the other guy? can't see(one I vote for)? dumb (a tie with can't see)?

Just look around..in addition to broken gate arms,

there are how many of the posts that are st the entrances to cart paths that say no vehicles? There is not one that has not been replaced only once...there are none that stand up straight from being hit.

In addition to gate arms just look at the entrance into tunnels and note the black tire marks up on the walls!!!

And then remember that most of those who do this damage are also on the roads in their other vehicle.

Driving in TV is expensive (replacing gate arms, posts, etc).

Driving in TV is actually pretty dangerous.

Gate arms are only an indicator.

Just wondering if The Villages would install Bollards as a way to control traffic instead of replacing the gates every other week :)

Could it be that as the driver reaches out the car window and swipes the card, they just immediately put their foot on the gas to go without checking that the gate has actually opened? Hard to believe that people would intentionally crash the gate and possibly harm their own vehicle.

perhaps the damage might have been done by a landscaping or other trades vehicle - I've seen some that are pretty tall and pretty long that might not have agreed with the timing of the gate. smh

Good point

The gates remain open while a vehicle, regardless of length is within the gate sensors...they are not timed. If they were timed they would all be laying in the streets

ummm............... sometimes the two for ones at happy hour clouds their judgement.

When I see a gate fixer, I always think...That guy has job security!
