Should tile grout be darker than the tile?

I'm in a quandry.....have light grout with light tile, grout is driving me nuts. Anyone "repainted" their grout to a darker color and like the new look?

Personal choice!

Check out the website www.dirtygroutbegone.com The owner is Adam. He can change your grout color for you, but he does say lighter grout with lighter tile looks best. He does grout sealing in many different colors and it makes it much easier to stay clean. If you go to the website, check out the third video on the page and it shows how he can change your grout color. We used him to clean our grout and were very happy, but are now thinking we may want to have him seal it. Good luck!

Grout in a contrasting color tends to make a room look smaller by cutting it up into small squares. Grout in a color close to the tile color will make the grout lines "disappear", making the room look larger. It is a personal choice, and grout can be stained many colors, and sealed to preserve the color. Contact any tile store/ installer for contractors.

I like grout in a color that doesn't make the tile look like graph paper, so blending as well as possible works for me.

Whether the grout is light or dark, the dirt it harbors is still the same.....and the traffic areas' grout, even when diligently scrubbed, will still be darker than the periphery where nobody walks.

Many expensive homes here look institutional inside because of too much tile. Solid, factory-finished hardwood is a winner every time:

All grout WILL darken with time, even when sealed...that is a fact.
So, it is really preference to look "seamless", or a distinct pattern.
I really think it depends on the room itself.
