Upcoming LSV - What Should We Do?

Any suggestions for things we "must do" during our upcoming life style visit? Any tips for getting around, what to see, what to do to get a good feeling for TV? We will be retiring this summer and are "just looking" to get some ideas on where we might fit in best.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

Mike

Thank you Bill! I just realized that I may have posted this in the wrong forum. I'll take a look at those links.

You're welcome!

I think having it in the New Members forum is probably o.k. If it's not, the admin staff will probably move it.

Bill :)

First: enjoy...the sun, warm weather, beautiful surroundings and lovely people.
Second: go to the "squares" or town centers - have coffee or lunch - just amble around.
Third: Take the tour bus ride, enjoy seeing the many villages and meet lots of others.
Fourth: Consider your age and spend some time visiting/driving around areas where people your age seem to be living. Walk in and visit the rec centers.
Lastly: Don't rush. Enjoy it for what it is worth. Don't hurry anywhere...talk to lots of people - -as people are very, very friendly here. You don't have to see a sales rep or look at homes yet. Enjoy the hospitality of the villages and let it sink in. It does its magic all by itself.

My wife and I just returned from a LSV last Saturday. We stayed at a villa located near the Lake Sumter Landing town center.

We were there to visit only and see what the attraction to The Villages was all about. We met with a sales associate on Monday and were taken to numerous new homes and price ranges as we wanted to get a senses of the housing offered at The Villages. As we proceeded through these visits we defined to the sales associate our preferences. We agreed to meet again on Wednesday to focus on home our sales associate choose based on the identified preferences. On Tuesday we drove around looking at homes on our own.

Each day we started our day at Panera Bread at Lake Sumter as the villa we were in did not have wifi connectivity. During these Panera stays we spoke to numerous people and each to a person spoke highly of The Villages.

Well on Wednesday we met our sales associate and visited the homes she chose based on our preferences and we purchased a Designer Home in the Village of Ferandina. We signed a sales agreement on Friday and are scheduled to close on April 8th.

In between spending time with our sales associate, we visited friends in The Villages, went to the town centers each night to experience the live entertainment and took the free trolley tour from the Sumter Sales Office and visited most of the Regional Recreation Centers. We were fascinated by the weekly recreation insert issued on Thursdays.

Never during our time with The Villages was there any pressure to purchase. We just felt that the area was beautiful and well designed and was an ideal location to spend our retirement years.

Hope this is helpful. In summary there is no scripted agenda and you are basically free to do whatever you decide. So enjoy.

You have received good advice like taking the trolley, talk to anyone and everyone, go the squares for entertainment and last but not least.

"Bring your checkbook".

1. Be sure to visit a square on market night and, if you are into fresh fruits and vegs, visit Brownwood on Saturday morning for the farmer's market.

2. Have lunch or dinner at one of the country clubs.

3. Plop down next to the water in either Lake Sumter Landing or Spanish Springs and watch the birds. Works especially well late afternoon/early evening with a glass of your favorite beverage.

Rent a golf cart and drive off and get loss in the in the villages.
We spent a full day just driving a round looking at the homes.
I think you could spend a month and never drive every street in every village.

When we had our LSV, we left the checkbook home.

No worry, purchased a CYV, and put the deposit on a credit card.

Aria...great story. Congrats on your purchase. That should give the OP an idea of how a visit can progress.
